Hit Tamil Movies in 2010
2010 hit films:
The films which are released in 2010 are in high in number, but the numbers of the films which are blockbuster hits or hits are comparatively very low in number. Only 11 films have been successful at the box office in 2010. Let’s take a look at the films.
Thamizh Padam has bagged a hit at the start of the year and everyone has come to an opinion that the year is going to excel. The film has brought in a new genre to Kollywood and was a super success at the box office. The film was made on a budget of Rs 2.5 crore and the trade reports reveal that the film has collected Rs 8.23 crore
Gautham Menon’s direction, AR Rahman’s music along with the star cast has paved for the film to be a hit. The film was released in Tamil and Telugu and received great reviews. The film was made with a budget of Rs 14 crores and has earned Rs 18 crores at the box office. Undoubtedly the film enrolled itself as the first biggest hit of the year-2010.
The film with realistic touch has pulled the audience to the big screen. Angadi Theru directed by Vasanthabalan has enough drama and has brought the inhuman situations that happen in Chennai’s city life. The film received positive reviews and was appreciated by critics for the honest and brave attempt. The budget of the film is Rs 3 crore and to a surprise the film collected Rs 15 crore at the box office and stood as a big hit in 2010.
Paiyaa starring Karthi and Tamannah in the lead roles is said to be a surprise hit of the year. Directed by Lingusamy the film has nothing to mention special but the presentation and music apart from Tamannah’s glamour made the film to list in the hit list of 2010. Paiyaa was made with a budget of Rs 12 crore and the film collected Rs 30 crore.
Suriya has reached the big screen as Singam directed by Hari. The film is an action entertainer and had a great reach in the mass audience. The highlights of the film are Suriya, seducing beauty Anushka and Devi Sri Prasad’s music. Singam was made with a budget of Rs 15crore and has collected approximately Rs 40crore. The film is strictly declared as a hit and it was a great treat for Suriya’s fans.
The film is indeed a surprise hit of the year and surely need to be listed in the top list. The lead pair Vimal and Ooviya has done a great job and the film is said to be a full time entertainer. The budget of the film is Rs 1.5crore and the gross revenue is Rs 3.5crore.
The film has taken Arya to the next level and Vijay’s skills in direction paved the way for the success of the film. This historical drama starring Arya and Amy Jackson in the lead roles created waves at the box office. The budget of the film is Rs 40crore and the film has earned the expected revenues.
Arya’s second hit film in 2010, the film is released on EID day with 240 screens. Surprisingly the film made the best ever opening on the first day with 95.5 percent theater occupancy. The film is an out and out comedy entertainer with Arya and Nayanthara playing the lead roles. Director Rajesh has once again succeeded in entertaining the audience.
Endhiran blockbuster of the year and the highest grosser at the box office proved that Indian cinema is no where lesser than a Hollywood film. Shankar’s direction, Rajinikanth’s acting style and Aishwarya’s glamour, A R Rahman's musical extravaganza are said to be the key factors of the success. The high technical values, along with science fiction theme made Endhiran a must watch film. Sun pictures have produced with a budget of Rs160 crore and the film earned a gross revenue of Rs 400crore.
The film is all about the journey of a boy in search of his mother and the director joins the journey in the midway, which is enjoyable. Though the film resembles a Japanese film, director has added the Tamil flavor to the film and succeeded in entertaining the audience.

Anushka has't seen SINGAM yet !!! Why??
Suriya’s latest movie ‘Singam’ is releasing in Telugu as 'Yamudu' on July 2. For the occasion the team met the media in Hyderabad. Suriya, Anushka, writer Sahithi and producer Gnanavel Raja took part in the event.
At the event Suriya thanked the Telugu audience for accepting him in Tollywood. He also said he is a great fan of Anushka and was very happy doing the film with her.
But Anushka was very open, candid and surprising.
She said she hasn’t seen the Tamil version 'Singam' yet even after 4 weeks of super run. But she had seen the Telugu and felt the dubbed version 'Yamudu' looked very original and she did not feel it is dubbed from Tamil any where. She also said her role was in the film was not just a glamour doll but with substance.
But what she said later is a revelation. Anushka said though she does films in Tamil her first preference undoubtedly is Telugu. ‘Singam’ was her third film and first hit in Tamil after ‘Rendu’ with Madhavan and ‘Vettaikkaran’ with Vijay.

Anushka: The 'Golden Leg' Lady
The tall and cute heroine, Anushka is on cloud nine today. Her film Singam with hero Surya was released today. And market analysts has said that the film is one of the biggest blockbusters in recent times.
All her films including Singam are blockbuster hits and one producer in Chennai described her as a 'Golden Leg'.
Since this morning, she has been flooded with calls from the Tamil producers to star in their films, but Anushka just told them that she is right now busy with some projects.
Incidentally next month to of her films in Telugu, Panchakshari and Vedam are ready for release and if they too turn out to be blockbusters, then she would become the top most heroine in the entire South India.

‘Singam’ To Be Biggest Tamil Release In U.S.A
Suriya’s ’Singam’ will be the first Tamil film to be released on a unprecedented scale across US.
BIG Cinemas is releasing the film in more than 30 screens across 24 locations/cities in U.S. on June 28. These include 10 own locations of BIG Cinemas.
A ‘Suriya searches for his biggest fan in U.S.’ contest has also been organised by the distributor which began on May 23 and will go on till June 7.
Surya himself will select the winner, who will get to exclusively video chat with the actor and receive autographed ’Singam’ movie merchandise which includes the police uniform and accessories worn by Surya.
“Singam is Suriya’s 25th film. Singam revolves around smuggling activities taking place in Rameshwaram. Suriya plays a cop after the stupendous hit ‘Khaaka Khaaka’ and the film is expected to have the right mix of sentiments and comedy like all other Hari films,” a Big Cinemas statement on Wednesday said.
Directed by Hari, the film also stars Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj and Vivek.

‘Singam’ promos shoot
Director Hari has completed the entire shooting of ‘Singam’ with Suriya and is now busy with planning promotional activities for the film. He recently completed a photo session with the leading stars Suriya and Anushka.As Suriya will be busy with his first Hindi film ‘Raktha Charithra’ soon, Hari is over working to can all the materials that would be required for the promotions as the film’s release gets nearer. Suriya who would go for a change of get up as usual for the new Hindi film is also cooperating with the director to complete all formalities before he gets into the mood of ‘Raktha Charithra’. So much that the duo have even shot a few video interviews which would be give to television channels at the time of release. Terrific forethoughts!
