Jyothika gave birth to second child

It’s turning out to be a celebration for the entire family of Surya as his wife Jyothika gave birth to a boy child. Jyothika delivered the child around 4 this morning (June 7) at Apollo Hospital.



Surya and Jyothika got married on September 11, 2006 and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl Diya. Now, they are elated to have a new arrival in their family.

Surya must be the happiest man in the whole world at the moment, (just as he utters the same words as his film “Sillunnu Oru Kadhal’ of yesteryears). Both his career and family life are going great guns now. He has been striking gold with continuous successes in all his films and is awaiting for more triumphs for his upcoming projects – “Raktha Charithra’, “7 AUM ARIVU’ and “Businessman’.

Vijay has to compensate for his flops!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is in a fix. A crucial meeting, of Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association (TTOA) was held in Chennai today (May 28).

TTOA has threatened to issue a ‘Red Card’ against the star if he does not compensate them for the colossal failure of Sura as they could not recover the money that they had paid as MG for the film.

Says R. Paneerselvam, Secretary, TTOA: “We have tried to get an appointment with Vijay, but he could not be reached. All his recent films including Sura and Vettaikaran were failures and we lost heavily. The continued poor performance of his films has actually forced us to convene an emergency meeting. We are demanding that he compensate us with atleast 35 percent of our losses. We are hoping Vijay understands our difficulties and helps us out."

Paneerselvam and other members of TTOA made it clear that if Vijay is not willing to give a compensation, both his forthcoming films Kavalkaran and Velayudham will not be screened by any of the theatres in Tamil Nadu. They claim the combined losses from Vijay’s last five films was approximately around Rs 30 Crore!

Failure of Sura leads Vijay to refund?

After the failure of Sura, the theatre’s association in the NSC area (North and South Arcot and Chengalpet) of Tamil Nadu recently announced that they wanted the actor to take “moral responsibility for the failure of Sura”.



They wanted the actor to refund at least 40 per cent of the amount that they had paid as MG (Minimum Guarantee).

A spokesperson of the Chengalpet-Kanchipuram Theatre Association, said, “All recent Vijay films, including the latest Sura have been failures. We had lost crores earlier paying MG’s by screening Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, Kuruvi, Villu, and Vettaikkaran and now, Sura is a washout. Superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan had compensated us when their films bombed. If he is not willing to pay cash as compensation, Vijay can do a film for us to make up for the losses.”

Now, Vijay, instead of getting into a slanging match with exhibitors and distributors, has quietly begun work on two films Kavalkaran and Velayutham — simultaneously and will also start work on the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots.

With stunt scenes and dance moves of Vijay and the hip music by Mani Sharma, in the trailers already creating hype, Vijay fans can expect an exciting summer this year!

I am Sura, not Pura: Vijay

Vijay and 'punch dialogues' have become two sides of a coin. His 50th film 'Sura', directed by S P Rajakumar of 'En Purushan Kuzhandhai Madhiri' and 'Azhagar Malai' fame, too have a handful of 'powerful one liners', we learn.

If reports are to be believed, in one of the punch dialogues the actor utters in the movie is, 'Samadhanama poga nan pura illa da...Sura' which, if roughly translated, means 'I am not a dove to prefer peace, I am a shark'."

'Sura' has many other similar one liners, sources say. Vijay plays a fisherman in the film which is being shot in Puducherry, Visakhapatnam and Cochin.

Vadivelu is taking care of the comedy part while Tamannah plays a college student who falls for Vijay. Produced by Sangili Murugan (the producer of 'Kadhalukku Mariyadhai'), 'Sura' will be released by Sun Pictures.
