Actor Surya Speaks about 'Why this Kolaveri di'
Actor Surya is not known to make too many statements. The soft-spoken, suave star is of the opinion that regional cinema had potential for success across the country, in the same manner in which the 'Tanglish' song 'Why this Kolaveri di ' has become a rage across the nation.
The 7am arivu star said this while speaking at the valedictory of the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) at Panaji. Regional cinema is not getting focus. Most of the West thinks that Indian cinema is Hindi cinema,' Surya said.
The actor also lamented the fact that 'Indian cinema was synonymous with Hindi cinema to the western world' and not much attention was being paid to correct this portrayal.

Suriya doing twins role in ‘Maatraan’
If reports are to be believed, Suriya will play a dual role in Maatran. The film is to be directed by KV Anand and an official announcement regarding this project was made a couple of weeks ago. So, what is new about a dual role, one might ask. Being an actor who has tried out different things in his career and a brilliant director like KV Anand, who also has immense knowledge in cinematography, handling the megaphone, there is bound to some be fresh ideas that will have the movie buffs in awe.
Enquiries in Kollywood reveal that Suriya’s dual role is that of a Siamese Twins, which means a pair of identical twins born with conjoined body parts. Now, that is going to be a whole new experience for Suriya’s fans and challenging one for Suriya and KV Anand.

Maatraan Uruvagiran: Surya KV Anand Combo Again
The ‘Ayan’ duo is at it again. Suriya has started his next project with K V Anand, titled ‘Maatraan’. Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram’s AGS Entertainment, the film is expected to be an action entertainer.
‘Sometimes the end is just the beginning’ is the tagline of the film, which will have music by Harris Jayaraj and script by Subha, the two quintessential names in all films directed by Anand.
While Anand is currently busy with the release of ‘Ko’, a Udhayanidhi Stalin venture which has Jiiva in the lead, Suriya is shooting for ‘7am Arivu’, again a Red Giant production, directed by A R Murugadoss.
“The shoot of Maatran will start soon. Both Suriya and Anand are happy to work together again for they shared a great rapport in Ayan, one of the biggest blockbusters of 2009,” sources in the know say.
