Gayathri is currently acting in Tamil films '18 Vayasu' and 'En Ippadi Mayakkinai'. She while speaking to the media said,
"I am studying BA in Bangalore College. If there is shooting, I will be given permission to go on leave and act. In the recent examinations I secured 75% marks.
After completing my studies next year I will be permanently shifting my residence to Chennai. I am also doing the female lead role in the film Pon Mazhai Pozhudhu in which Kannadasan's grandson Aadhav is doing the lead role. There are lots of heroines but I want to be different from them."
In 18 Vayasu Gayathri is pairing with Johnny who did the lead role in Renigunta directed by Panneerselvam. 18 Vayasu is also being directed by Panneerselvam.
