The COO of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Vikram Malhotra, confirmed that the sequel to Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur (GOW) will release on August 10. Apparently, the production house has decided to release the second part earlier than planned to cash in on part one's box office acceptance. GOW was well accepted by the audience despite an 'A' certificate. "The film, despite its blood and gore, grips you because it focuses on an important emotion – revenge. People are waiting to see how the drama enfolds," says trade analyst Tarun Adarsh. Anurag Kashyap said to HT, "We took gamchas to Cannes and it became a style statement there with people wearing it over their Armanis. These innovative strategies helped us get away with such a long film." |
